Highlights to Stay safe at the Mall

In a crowded shopping mall, an easy target for a criminal is a distracted buyer. Carrying many bags and items in your hands can provoke a criminal to follow a shopper in the hope that they will get an opportunity to steal from them. Some circumstances can be favorable for a criminal to harm and steal from a shopper. The outlines below are the things you can do to improve your safety as you shop.

Do not park in dark places of the parking lot. It is better when the area has security guards on duty. For ease when leaving after shopping, choose a spot near the entrance or exit. A long stay in the parking can make you a target of criminals.

In case you have to shop till dark, you can ask the guards on duty to help you carry other bags to the car. When you get to the car, check around, inside and under it to ensure nobody is hiding.

If you have the intention to leave other valuable items in the car as you go to shop, make sure it is not visible from outside the car. Covering electronics, and purses reduces the chances of a criminal breaking into your car.

Do not make an assumption that all shoppers in the mall are good people. The mind easily focuses on the things you are buying and the payments you are making for the items you have purchased. It is possible for your pockets to be picked when your attention is grasped by items on the shelf in the mall. Report any persons that make you feel unsafe.

Avoid hallways that are deserted and not properly lit. If you have to use a bathroom, look for one that is located in more trafficked area.

Avoid placing any valuables in the shopping basket.

If you have any children in your company in the mall, do not let them wander around on their own. There are child-traffickers who could steal the children when left unattended. Avoid using babysitters as you shop.

You can do an analysis of the security of a mall that you wish to shop from before going there. Establish whether there are any security stations near it to that you know where to go to in case of an emergency.

Leave any unnecessary bank cards and money at home. When you lose the money to a criminal, you will have saved that which you left at home. For the safety of anyone in the mall, these tips are of great importance.
